Flashback Nuclear – Journal

The short film “Flashback Nuclear” by Barbara Matas appears to be a commentary on nuclear weapons and how they are a threat to our world. Despite the smooth jazz tune there is an ominous story being told with a voiceover in the background. Soundbites from  Orson Welles’ “War of the Worlds” was used as the narrative in the film which seems appropriate considering the imagery in during the audio. The black and white explosive mushroom cloud in the background remains still while a woman representing an alien to society changes image through out the short. A mixed of images and sounds meld together to entrance the viewer in the art of the message.
